The spring U8 program is designed to the bridge the gap between fall second grade soccer and the U09 fall travel program and better prepares young players for competitive soccer. The program operates under the guidance of professional trainers and consists of weekly clinics, practices, and small side games. The program focuses on teaching fundamental skill development while introducing participants to critical elements of competitive soccer – basic tactics, good sportsmanship and working with coaches and teammates.
During the initial weeks of the program, players are evaluated and sorted into balanced teams. This ensures that all participants receive a uniform curriculum when competitive and tactical elements are introduced through small-sided matches during the later stages of the program. There are two training sessions per week, on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for 75 minutes, for each gender.
This program is intended for, but is not exclusive of, those who are considering trying out for travel soccer in the late spring. In order to maximize training efficiency the number of participants in the program may be limited. To be eligible for the program, players must either be born between 8/1/00 and 7/31/01 or who will be entering the third grade in the fall of 2009.

DATES:
Fridays: April 3, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15 (Make up)
Saturdays: March 28*, April 4, 18, 25, May 2, 9, May 16
TIMES:
Girls – Fri. @ 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm, Sat. @ 10:00 am to 11:15 am
Boys – Fri. @ 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm, Sat. @ 8:30 am to 9:45 am
WHERE: Washington Elementary School
FEE: $190 per player
*Please note that the first week’s session will be on Saturday, March 28 and will be a two hour session @ Sid Fey/Houlihan. Boys will play from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and Girls will play from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Additionally, please mark your calendars for Saturday May 16 as we will celebrate the conclusion of the U8 Program with a "Round Robin" Tournament. Stay tuned for more details.
