Spring 2018 U7 Academy
Players born in 2011
This spring the Westfield SA will offer all boys and girls born in 2011 the opportunity to take part in the U7 Spring academy. All players eligible for the program, based on their year of birth, can take part in a fun and challenging program.
The focus of the program will be mainly on the development of each players’ individual ball skills. To become a capable soccer player, it is important to be both capable and comfortable on the ball. Through a combination of games and fun activities players will be challenged, and at times pushed outside their comfort zone.
Through training we hope to encourage players to become more assertive on the ball, improving their ability to dribble. We seek help players to become more aware of their surroundings when on the ball; which will aid their overall decision making, while on the ball. And most importantly of all, we want to make sure that those who do participate are given the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer!
The program will include 2 contact moments a week.
On Friday, the players will go through training - training activities under the guidance of professional coaches. All sessions will end with small sided games.
Each Saturday we will repeat the core activities from the day before and increase the time players spent playing in small sided games. These Saturday sessions will be ran by professional coaches, supported by enthusiastic volunteer coaches.
We will need the assistance of volunteers who would like to help us run the Saturday morning part of the program. Anyone who would be willing to help out/volunteer can make that known when registering his/her child. Please know that you do not have to be an expert on the game to be able to help out! We seek energetic and enthusiastic volunteers who are great with 6 and 7-year-old children.
